Nurse Practitioner

Kathryn Ziegler, MD, FACS

"My goal is to take the time to listen carefully to each patient's experiences and formulate a plan as a team with the patient. Medicine and surgery are not "one-size-fits-all" so an individualized approach allows patients to take ownership of their health and their treatment options."

Dr. Ziegler is a minimally-invasive trained abdominal surgeon, with expertise in general surgery, anti-reflux surgery, hiatal hernia repair, and bariatric surgery. She has been in practice in Royal Oak since 2014 and enjoys caring for a wide variety of patients. She is a metro-Detroit native, attended the University of Michigan for undergraduate studies, followed by Drexel University for medical school. Dr. Ziegler then completed her General Surgery residency and Minimally Invasive, Foregut, and Bariatric fellowship at Indiana University. She was thrilled to return to Michigan in 2014 to join the surgical department at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.

Dr. Ziegler's clinical focus is on the care of complex benign foregut disease (reflux, hiatal hernia, paraesophageal hernia) as well as the surgical management of obesity (sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass). She also cares for general surgical conditions including inguinal and ventral hernias, gallbladder disease, and appendicitis. She was an early adopter of minimally invasive robotic surgery and utilizes the robotic platform for most of her procedures, allowing for faster recovery.
